Most Renfrew County schools preparing for remote learning Monday

As students leave school for the weekend, it’s unclear when they might return.

Most Renfrew County schools will close and pivot to remote learning if a strike involving the Canadian Union of Public Employees education workers goes ahead.

All Renfrew County District School Board schools will close. The Renfrew County Catholic District School Board has CUPE employees at some of its schools and those schools will close. That includes St. John Bosco in Barry’s Bay and St. Andrew’s in Killaloe.

CUPE, which represents school custodians, secretaries and education assistants, says it will announce by 5 p.m. on Sunday whether the strike is on.
