UPDATE: Most Renfrew County schools to go with remote learning if CUPE strike returns Monday

Parents, you may want to make day care arrangements again, this time for Monday, Nov. 21.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees has again announced that education workers will walk off the job if no deal is reached with the province by that day.

The Renfrew County District School Board says it will close schools again, if the work stoppage goes ahead. Remote learning will be offered.

The board says if a work stoppage goes ahead on Monday, it will provide asynchronous learning. And synchronous learning could begin by Wednesday, if there’s still no deal. By that, the board means the return of regularly scheduled Google meet classes with teachers and children, like what happened during long shut downs earlier in the pandemic.

The Renfrew County Catholic District School Board has CUPE workers at some of its schools, and those schools will also shift to remote learning on Monday if the dispute isn’t settled.

Among those schools are St. John Bosco in Barry’s Bay and St. Andrew’s in Killaloe.
