Swerving to avoid an animal can cost you dearly. Killaloe OPP is reminding drivers that after two deer-related collisions last week.

Last Tuesday, police were called to a pickup truck crash on Highway 50 in Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards at 5:30 p.m. A driver swerved to avoid a deer and hit a guardrail. There were no injuries, but the truck had to be towed.

And last Thursday, police were called to Combermere Road in Madawaska Valley at 2 p.m. where, again, a driver swerved for a deer and hit a guardrail. There were minor injuries and the vehicle was towed.

Police say if you swerve to avoid an animal, you can lose control and be at greater risk of injury.
