Police look for woman who went missing near Havelock

Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a missing 77-year-old woman, last seen near the Village of Havelock.

The Peterborough OPP says Margaret Newton was last seen on Monday, May 31st, while walking in the area of North Belmont Concession 10 in the Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen.

Newton is described as a 5’7” Caucasian woman, weighing about 170 lbs, with short grey straight hair and brown eyes with moles around her eyelids.

She was last seen wearing a red nylon spring jacket, black cotton capris, and black Velcro walking shoes.

She is described as an adept traveler, soliciting rides when needed, causing investigators to believe she may be in an unfamiliar location and disoriented.

Anyone with information is being asked to call the OPP.
