There’s a Legion of support in Barry’s Bay.
Royal Canadian Legion Branch 406 has been given Madawaska Valley’s Mayor’s Appreciation Award for 2022. It was presented at the Nov. 1 council meeting by Mayor Kim Love.
The award honours the organization’s work in numerous community initiatives, including the annual Poppy Campaign, which just got underway.

It also recognizes work to keep the community healthy. The Legion has offered up its building for vaccinations clinics throughout the pandemic.
In a speech, Love acknowledged the work the Legion has done on numerous community initiatives, including a program to add Remembrance Day themed-banners throughout Barry’s Bay. She said the banner program “brings history and remembrance to life.”
