The Renfrew County and District Health Unit is urging people to get a flu shot, in anticipation of a tough winter ahead.
Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Robert Cushman says that COVID-19 infection rates remain high, and influenza has arrived early in North America.
COVID-19 and flu vaccines are free and available at several clinics and pharmacies throughout the county.
Cushman says getting vaccinated becomes increasingly important as the weather gets colder and more people are indoors.
The health unit also asks people to do many of the same things they’ve done throughout the pandemic to lower the rate of infection. That includes cleaning your hands with soap and sanitizer regularly and staying at home if you’re sick.
