There will be some new faces at council tables across Renfrew County this term. Many incumbent politicians did not run again, or were defeated in Monday’s municipal election, although results are unofficial.

In Brudenell Lyndoch Raglan, Valerie Jahn is the new mayor. She won convincingly over Andrea Budarick and Rick Clements. Kevin Quade and Iris Kauffeldt won Ward 1 council seats and Wayne Robert Banks and Sheldon Keller were the Ward 2 winners.

In Greater Madawaska, Rob Weir is the new mayor. He beat out Deborah Giffin, Jim Hemlin and Lucie Perrier. The new council will be made up of Lois Thomson, Taylor Popkie, Rob Tripp and Jeff Levesque.

In Killaloe Hagarty Richards, David Mayville won a close race for mayor over Janice Tiedje. Council winners were Ted Browne, Bill Smith, Maureen MacMillan, Carl Kuehl, Harold Lavigne and Brian Pecoskie.

In Bonnechere Valley, Jennifer Murphy won the mayor’s race, over Jackie Agnew, Zig Mintha and Lianne Panke. Successful councillors were John Epps, Merv Buckwald, Brent Patrick and Tracey Sanderson.

In North Algona Wilberforce, there is no change. James Andrew Brose was re-elected mayor, earning more than 80 per cent of the vote, over Deborah Farr.  Councillors  Maria Robinson, Janet-Reiche-Schoenfeldt, Dough Buckwald, and Melvin Berndt were all re-elected, too.
