If you’re looking to buy a new home in Madawaska Valley you may soon have some more options.
A new subdivision that could add nearly 80 homes is planned for the Sherwood Township area, off Siberia Road and just east of Trader Lane
The township is hosting a virtual public meeting so the public can speak for or against the project. It’s set for 2 p.m. on Thursday.
The proposal is from a private developer and it calls for 28 semi-detached and six single detached dwellings. A block of land has also been set aside for what could be either a 40-unit apartment building or stacked townhouses.
Madawaska Valley Planning Manager Luke Dejardins says the project is not, officially, an affordable housing project. But he says homes of all types are needed in the township to alleviate a housing crunch.
