BANCROFT – If you appreciate the work of local artists, you’ll want to get out and about over the next two weekends.

The Bancroft & Area Autumn Studio Tour is back for its 30th year.

The event has artists showing off their work at 10 different locations. Their studios are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 17 and 18, as well as Sept. 24 and 25.

This year’s event features six artists who are joining the tour for the first time; Stephanie Parks; Patrick Doherty; Joanne Hankus; May Van Roon; Carol Towe and Ken Balmer.

Tour co-ordinator Ketha Newman says the event is an important opportunity for artists to showcase and sell work. The tour’s also important for the local economy, given that many artists reside and work in the area.

“On the tour, you can see how the scenery and the community has inspired the art,” she said.
