Kids and adults alike in the Madawaska Valley region are being encouraged to take part in the minor hockey season.

The Barry’s Bay and Area Minor Hockey Association has opened registration for referees interested in helping with the 2022-23 season.

Referees need to be at least 13 years old, and people with some experience playing hockey, including active players, are being encouraged to apply.

Players between the ages of 6 and 17 years old can also sign up to join the organization for the upcoming season.

Younger players will be able to participate in less competitive programs meant to teach the basics of the sport, while older kids will either participate in the Barry’s Bay Bears house league or the Valley Cyclones’ competitive rep team.

You can find details for how to register as either a referee or a player on the Barry’s Bay and Area Minor Hockey Association’s social media pages. The deadline for players to sign up is August 31st.
