Madawaska Valley enters into Memorandum of Understanding with Station Keepers

The Madawaska Valley Station Keepers and the Municipality have hashed out how they will run the Barry’s Bay Train Station.

The two groups have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which will allow the Station Keepers to have a wider use of the building. While the building is still owned by the Township, the Keepers will have the freedom to run the building’s day-to-day operations.

The Township will continue to pay for maintenance, and yearly events (like the Artisan Festival and Taste of the Valley) and will give an annual grant to offset things like insurance.

The Station Keepers will fundraise for operating costs and program expenses and will hold a separate operating account from the municipality.

The agreement will go into effect immediately.
