The return of one of the biggest events of the summer did not end without issue.
Madawaska Valley Township says that tents used by the Combermere Recreation Committee for the event were vandalized sometime Monday night. They say that the poles were purposely bent and snapped. As a result, the Committee will now need to use profits from the event to replace them, taking away funds from recreational programming the event was meant to support.
The Township adds that vandalism of public property is an ongoing problem for them. This follows an incident in July in Brudenelle-Lyndoch-Raglan Township where municipal property was also vandalized. Madawaska Valley Staff urges people to put a stop to vandalism by calling the police immediately or report it directly to them by calling 613-756-2747.
