Hastings and Prince Edward Public Health wants to see plain packaging for tobacco products.
The health unit says it wants to see the same size, shape and colour for all packs of cigarettes and tobacco products, to reduce their attractiveness.
Public Health says many Canadians are not aware of how much promotion and marketing goes into the design for packs of cigarettes and other tobacco products.
It says tobacco companies manipulate the pack’s look to reduce the effectiveness of health warnings and to target certain consumers.
There are several countries that have implemented standard tobacco packaging.
