A coalition of associations is looking for volunteers to help fight an invasive species.

The Carson Trout Lepine and Greenan Lakes Association, the Kamaniskeg Area Property Owners Association, and the Kaszuby Cottagers Association are taking aim at the invasive Phragmites species after some of it was discovered along Combermere Road. Phragmites are an invasive species that have spread through parts of Ontario and out-competes other plants. They are also very difficult to remove.

The group of associations will be sending volunteers to help stop the spread of the plant on July 18th. They will be removing the plant according to best practices set out by the Ontario Invasive Plant Council. The group is looking for more volunteers to help stop the spread, and those who want to help out can email [email protected]
