Joint Transport Consortium expecting school bus driver shortages

The Renfrew County Joint Transport Consortium (RCJTC) is asking parents to confirm if they are using the bus next school year.

The company that manages the school busses in the district has said they have experienced a shortage of drivers. In order to plan their routes efficiently to make up for this shortage, they want parents who don’t consistently need a school bus to opt out of the service. Families who save a seat on the bus just in case, or who drive to school every day, are being asked to decline their seat if they don’t need it.

The Consortium has also put out a call for bus drivers to fill their ranks. They will provide training for free and will be eligible for government benefits.
