Applications open for second allocation of moose hunting tags

You only have a few weeks left to get moose tags if you plan to go hunting for them this fall. Ontario Fish and Wildlife is now accepting applications for its remaining unclaimed tags.

Applying costs $15, but if you applied during the first allocation period a few weeks ago, you won’t need to pay another fee.

Tags cost anywhere from $30 to $200, depending on whether you’re planning to hunt cows, bulls or calves. You’ll also need a moose hunting license, which costs $35.29.

If you don’t want to pay for a tag yourself, or don’t get one if you apply, you can still hunt as part of a group with someone who does have a tag, as long as you have your moose license.

You can apply online, at a participating ServiceOntario location, or by calling 1-800-288-1155. The deadline to apply is July 7th, and you’ll be able to claim your tag starting August 1st.
