A local township is getting money to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
It’s part of a $2-million fund the Government of Canada has created to support celebrations across the country. Locally, North Algona Wilberforce will receive $5,000 in part of their Plant a Tree for the Jubilee Program.
The Town of Bancroft is the only other place in the area to receive funding. Organizations in the town were allocated a combined $6,500 for their Jubilee installations.

The celebrations are to mark Queen Elizabeth’s 70th year in the role. She is the longest-reigning monarch in British history.
