The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP is warning residents about a computer scam that has recently surfaced in the area.
Police says you may get a phone call from a scammer pretending to be with a well-known computer company, like Microsoft, claiming you computer has a virus or has been hacked.
The scammer will try to get remote access of your computer, requesting a fee for the service by credit card or money transfer service.

Ultimately, the scammer will try to get you to pay for service you did not need.
The OPP is asking you to contact them or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre if you receive this type of call.
