After a collision with a moose, OPP is urging people to be careful this time of year.
OPP responded to a call on Sunday in South Algonquin and was assisted by the District of Nipissing Paramedics and South Algonquin Firefighters. The incident occurred on Highway 127 near McKenzie Lake Road. A 24-year-old driver from Maynooth was transported to hospital with minor injuries, while the passengers of the vehicle were unharmed. The vehicle was towed.
Police are urging people to heed the moose warning signs, and actively scan the sides and ditches of roads for signs of wildlife. They say forests and waterways are the most likely places for a collision, as that is their natural habitat. They also ask motorists to drive at a safe speed.
