If you want to highlight the work of a group or person in Killaloe, you only have a limited time to nominate them for a new award.
The Best of Killaloe Awards aims to shine a light on the groups that make Killaloe the town it is. Organizer Lynn Flokstra says the idea came from the Killaloe Post Facebook group. After pitching the idea to the Killaloe Lion’s Club, the event grew to include the Township, the Seniors Friendship Club, the Community Resource Centre, the Killaloe BIA, and several businesses. Flokstra says that once nominations wrap up, more details will come out on an actual event.
Award Nominations are set to close on Friday, April 8th at 6 PM. Nomination forms and drop boxes are available at Grandma’s Pantry, Killaloe IDA, Killaloe Hardware and the Round Lake Centre Food Market. Awards include:
-The Individual Volunteer Award
-The Community Elder Award
-The Youth Award
-The Community Group/Organization Award
-The Business of the Year Award
-The Best Neighbour Award
-The Peter Benner Memorial Community Spirit Award, named after Killaloe Lion Peter Benner, who passed away last year.
