It’s a day out on the trails in support of a local fire hall.

The Killaloe Hagarty Richards Volunteer Firefighter’s Association has opened registration for their ATV Poker Run on May 14th. Organizer Thomas Hartwig says they plan to raise money to buy new equipment for the station.

Last year, they were able to buy a Wajax pump that is used for fighting forest fires. Although not set in stone, Hartwig says they are looking at using this year’s funds to purchase the “Who’s Responding” app, which is a cellphone-based dispatch system used by first responders.

Registration is $20 a hand at the event, with cash prizes available for the top three hands, along with other prizes. The trail for the event begins at The Day Park on Paugh Lake Road.
