Snowmobile trails close after short season

It looks as though snowmobile season may be over in most of Renfrew County.

The B, A and E trails are listed as closed, as well as many of the three-digit trails in the area. The first trails were opened in mid-January, leaving only a few weeks of active snowmobiling in Renfrew County. Warmer temperatures and rain are predicted over the next week.

The news comes as the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs has set out a new strategic plan for the next few years. The group wants to enhance the partnership with the provincial government, and support clubs through investments in equipment, programs and standards. They also want to increase revenues to the Federation and implement a review on how the group is governed.
