For Invasive Species Awareness Week, the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry wants people to report invasive species when they see them.

The Ministry is reminding people to report any invasive species to the Early Detection and Distribution Mapping System of Ontario. The tool is used to track invasive species across Ontario, from invasive fish like Asian Carp, plants like European Buckthorn, or LDD moths (formerly known as Gypsy Moths).

It was developed in part by the Ontario Invasive Species Centre, the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, as well as the Ministry. It allows these organizations to respond to their spread and is helpful in early detection. It can be accessed online or downloaded through a smartphone app.

Invasive Species Awareness Week is put on by the Ontario Invasive Species Centre and runs from February 28th until March 4th.
