Census Canada reports a 14 percent decrease in population of Barry’s Bay

The population of Barry’s Bay seems to have shrunk since 2016.

The current population of the town according to 2021 Canada Census results sits at 1,084. Compared to the 1,259 residents recorded in 2016, this represents a decrease of 13.9 percent. Around 586 private dwellings were listed, with 509 of them occupied by usual residents.

Madawaska Valley as a whole currently has a population of 3,927, down nearly five percent since the last census. Out of the 2,541 private dwellings in the township, only 1,713 are occupied by usual residents.

The Federal Electoral District of Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke as a whole saw a 3.8 percent increase in total population, now sitting at around 107,000 people. Full census data was released on Tuesday.
