The Madawaska Valley Fire Department says a camper trailer is a total write-off after it was engulfed in flames.

The department responded to a fire on Combermere Road on February 5th. Firefighters arrived to find a camper trailer fully engulfed in flames, and a 3 bay garage at risk. Firefighters spent 35 minutes on the scene, but say the fire was extinguished within ten minutes.

Fire Chief Corwin Quade says that along with the trailer being a total writeoff, there was around $5,000 worth of damages done to the garage. The fire has been deemed accidental, but the cause is currently unknown. Quade credits a resident going to the landfill and investigating for calling 911. He also thanks a neighbour for using a piece of heavy machinery to pull the trailer away from the garage, limiting the overall damage.
