The Municipality of Hastings Highlands wants to complete the revitalization of Highway 62 and wants the province to pitch in.

Mayor Tracy Hagar, Deputy Mayor Dorothy Gerrow and CAO David Stewart met with Ontario Minister of Infrastructure Kinga Surma on Monday at the Rural Ontario Municipality Association (ROMA) 2022 conference. The delegation has asked the province for $13.6 million to complete the revitalization of a 23 kilometre stretch of the highway between the 127 and the County of Renfrew line.

Minister Surma’s office says she is working with the federal government to secure infrastructure funding to help with infrastructure projects in rural communities. She pledged to continue to do what work she can to fund the project.
