Police officers were busy dealing with hundreds of traffic incidents during the recent storm that swept through Ontario.

The OPP’s East Region Media Relations Coordinator, Tyer Copeland, says there were 179 traffic hazards throughout the region during the storm.

Copeland also says officers responded to 247 collisions, with more than half of them happening between 6:00 AM and noon. 11 collisions caused people to be hurt, and two collisions were fatal.

Copeland is thanking the OPP’s partners and other community workers for their help during the storm. “The excellent service provided by local volunteer firefighters, EMS, Hydro, tow operators, dispatchers and township employees did not go unnoticed,” Copeland says.
