Township staff at Madawaska Valley say they have gotten a major boost in funding to help with infrastructure projects, thanks to the provincial government.

The municipality has received what it calls a substantially larger amount than what it normally receives from the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF). While an exact total has not been revealed as of yet, Township Treasurer Amanda Hudder says the funding will keep many capital projects on track through 2022 and beyond.

Madawaska Valley is one of 424 communities to see funding from the program in 2022. In total, the province aims to distribute $400 million to these municipalities.
