If you ever wanted to be a FireRanger, now is your chance

Ontario Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services (AFFES) is looking for new recruits for the 2022 fire season. The group that operates under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is looking for Type I level firefighters, who will be first into the fray when fighting forest fires. The ministry says that while it is a physically demanding job, it can also be very rewarding.

Applicants must be 18 years of age and speak English. They also need to complete the Canadian Physical Performance Exchange Standard, the S100 Forest Firefighter Training Course and have standard first aid training. Aside from regular training, applicants will also be trained in WHMIS, the transportation of dangerous goods, and chainsaw use.
