A former paramedic from the area is being honoured with the Ontario Award for Paramedic Bravery.
Brad Smith was presented the award along with eight other paramedics last night at Queen’s Park.
Smith’s award was for saving a snowmobiler on Calabogie Lake back in February 2012.
Smith used a canoe to break through the ice and transport the snowmobiler back to safety.
