After a slew of wildlife related incidents reported to the OPP, the police want residents to be extra vigilant when driving.

The warnings come after the Bancroft Detachment reported 12 animal-related collisions in October alone. In particular, they warn that many incidents occur in the evening or in the early morning. The detachment often gets calls for wildlife related incidents well into December.

Police ask drivers to scan the sides of the roadway to be on the lookout for shining deer eyes. When no traffic is approaching, use your high beams and reduce your speed. They say this will allow drivers to react safely to unexpected issues. Police also suggest slowing down when you see one deer, as they often travel in groups.
