The Madawaska Valley Public Library wants to bring a learning group to Barry’s Bay that will teach kids about medieval history.

Karen Filipkowski, Library Chief Executive Officer, says they want to host a medieval education group called Knights of the Classroom. The group has visited Madawaska Valley before, and Filipkowski believes they had a good turnout when they last ran the event. Now that COVID-19 restrictions are easing, they hope to have them back again.

The group has interactive components to their presentation. One of their main instructors, Matthew Lawrence, has a background in Olympic fencing. The group will bring swords with them that the audience can look at.

Attendees need to RSVP by Friday, November 5th and the Library needs 20 people to go ahead with the event. However, if they have to cancel, Filipkowski says they will bring back the group at a later date. If the event is held, it will happen on November 9th at the Paul J. Yakabuski Centre.
