The fire rating for Madawaska Valley Township is now at its lowest level.

Corwin Quade, Fire Chief for the Township, says the fire rating is now at Green. This means burning will be allowed day or night and no permit will be needed to burn in the Township. Permits will not be required for burning until April 1st of next year.

Quade points to wet conditions and a quiet fire season as reasons to lift the ban. The Fire Department only responded to two small wildfires during the summer months.
