One of the new Chinook helicopters from Garrison Petawawa has completed its first mission.
The helicopter delivered 82 hundred pounds of food, water and other items to Fort McKay First Nation to support people displaced by the Fort McMurray fires.
This is the first time that the CH-147F Chinook has been used during a domestic humanitarian operation.
According to a release by the military, the aircraft, from the 450 Tactical Helicopter Squadron, joins four Griffon helicopters and one Hercules aircraft in supporting relief efforts in Alberta.
