After a significant increase in COVID-19 cases in the Township, the Renfrew County District Health Unit has declared an outbreak in Madawaska Valley.

The Health Unit says 12 cases of the virus have been diagnosed in the last two weeks in residents of the Valley. They say the Holy Canadian Martyrs Parish is a significant site for exposure and believes that September 26th is the date when the outbreak began.

With the high amount of high-risk contacts and concern that some individuals may still be infected, the Health Unit is urging people who feel they were exposed to get tested if they develop symptoms of COVID-19. They’re also asking the general public to assess their risk of exposure as the Unit attempts to stop further spread of the virus.
