Fall water flushing happening in Madawaska Valley

Starting next week, you may see some discoloured water in your system if you live in Madawaska Valley Township.

The Township says its water systems will start being flushed by the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) starting Tuesday, October 12th. The agency is doing the flushing to make sure the hydrants in the municipality will be able to be used in case of an emergency.

During this time, OCWA says that this could result in reduced tap water pressure or discoloured water. If this happens, they say to run cold tap water for a few minutes. They also say the water is not hazardous to your health, and the discolouration should not last longer than two hours.

The water flushing should wrap up by the end of the week of the 12th.
