It’s a step to more coordinated healthcare in the region.

Network 24, a group of healthcare providers in Renfrew County and South Algonquin Township, has received its status as an Ontario Health Team. This will allow over 70 community groups to better coordinate care and will aim to deliver high-quality services that are more accessible to 80,000 residents across the region.

The group will encompass healthcare providers from long-term care homes, hospitals, paramedic services, primary care providers, palliative care and mental health and addictions care, among many others. The team says the focus will be on those struggling with mental health and addictions, as well as caring for frail seniors. They will then work to connect residents with family doctors and primary care teams.

The official name of the Ontario Health Team has yet to be decided
