Organizers of Maynooth Pride say the event is a go for this weekend.

After being delayed in August, the event will open on Thursday, September 2nd with their Queer Reading Night at the Maynooth Rink. Pride is usually held on the August Long Weekend. However, the combination of bad weather and COVID-19 protocols forced it to be postponed to a later date.

The events will continue through Labour Day Long Weekend, with a Queer History Tour starting at the Municipal Building at 11 AM. On Sunday, September 5th, there will be a Beach Day at Noon on Papineau Beach.

During the week, the Hastings Highlands Library will be displaying a selection of Pride-related books at their location in the Municipal Building.

Organizers say to anyone wishing to attend to bring their own chairs, blankets, bug spray and whatever is needed for the beach and rink events. They also say COVID-19 protocols must be followed at all events.
