With hockey registration across the region ramping up, the governing body for hockey in Eastern Ontario wants players, coaches, team officials and on-ice officials to get vaccinated.

Hockey Eastern Ontario (HEO) is urging their eligible members to get COVID-19 shots before returning to the ice for the 2021-2022 season. In a release, the governing body is urging members to take this step so that hockey can return to how it was pre-pandemic, with five-on-five hockey games, body checking and travel allowed.

Officials add they have been talking with Hockey Canada about looking into having vaccination as a requirement for participating in their programs. They say they will keep member organizations updated on what they will decide.
