Madawaska Valley Fire Department not considering fire ban at this time

While some townships are moving to put in a fire ban due to drier conditions, the Madawaska Valley Fire Department currently has no such plans.

Fire Chief Corwin Quade says things have been quiet around the township. In the last month, they have not received a single 911 call for fire related activities, and do not want to punish residents as a result.

The decision comes as the Bonnechere Valley Fire Department has suspended their burn permits and prohibited any fire larger than the two-foot-by-two-foot campfire. They are urging people to have a water source nearby and never leave a fire unattended.
