Madawaska Valley Fire Department limiting firework use, allows burning with a permit

Fireworks can only be set off at certain times in Madawaska Valley.

Fire Chief Corwin Quade says effective immediately, fireworks can only be set off between dusk and 11 PM. If fireworks are set off outside that time, a ticket of $305 may be issued. The new limits are a result of a noise bylaw that was amended by Township council last week.

In addition, Quade says the Township will now allow nighttime burning with a permit. However, fires must be lit 2 hours before sunset and extinguished 2 hours after sunrise. Campfires do not require a permit. Permits can be purchased at the Municipal Office or the MacEwen’s in Barry’s Bay, or CO Country Market in Combermere.
