Speed Limit Issue Back In Front Of Renfrew Council

The issue of the speed limit in front of Pine View Public School is once again is being discussed at Renfrew County Council.
The county is willing to help pay for signage and lighting to try and make the crossing safer for students, but the idea of lowering the speed limit is still not on the table.
At the last meeting Petawawa Mayor Bob Sweet said the easiest decision would be to transport the students by bus.
School Council has repeatedly requested that the speed limit be reduced from 80 to 50-kilometers an hour.
The fact that it is the only school within 80-kilometers with such a high speed limit has also been discussed.
Other options that have been considered are street lights in front and a controlled pedestrian crossover, but both were considered excessive for the area.
