Two Area Schools Likely to Close

The latest report from the Renfrew County District School Board is recommending the closure of both Madawaska and Westmeath Public Schools.
The report was released on Friday which drew from input from two separate public information sessions.
The plan would see Madawaska public school combined with Sherwood Public School and Westmeath will be moved to Beachburg.
Both schools are facing very low enrollment and poor projections for growth in the coming years.
There is one last chance for the public to sway the school board.
The final meeting will take place on May 16th at the board office in Pembroke.
