Madawaska Valley Hospice Palliative Care to offer pickup Memorial Butterfly Release

The Memorial Butterfly Release will be happening again this year, and this time you can choose where you release your butterfly.

The Madawaska Valley Hospice Palliative Care fundraising event, which is normally held at Station Park in Barry’s Bay, will take place on Sunday, July 25th. However, due to gathering restrictions, butterflies will be available for pickup. Lisa Hubers, Executive Director at Palliative Care, says they will offer pickup points in Killaloe, Barry’s Bay, Combermere and Madawaska.

On the day of the event, people who purchased a butterfly will pick them up at one of these spots and bring them to a location of their choosing to release. Releasing a butterfly is a way of remembering someone you loved, and is a method of helping to heal from grief.

During the event, a memorial video will be sent to participants which they can watch online. The video will feature music and guest speakers, as well as a message from Grief Educator and Councillor Dawn Cruchet.

Butterflies will be sold for $35 each or $100 for three. Because the butterflies have to be raised in time for the event, the deadline to order is July 9th. To order a butterfly, you can head on over to the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation’s Website, or call 613-756-3025 ext. 217.
