Madawaska Valley Public Library offering Take-Home Trivia

Trivia is back at the Madawaska Valley Public Library, but it has gone curbside.

Library CEO Karen Filipkowski says the library had to get creative this year, and while people are not allowed to gather as they have in past trivia events, they wanted to still offer something fun for the summer. However, as gathering rules are set to change over the next few months, teams of six will be able to meet in a safely distanced or online setting to complete this challenge.

Question packages can be picked up for $25 from the Library on July 9th from 10 AM until 6 PM, and again on Saturday from 10 AM until 3 PM. Teams will arrange for a two-hour slot that weekend and will attempt to answer as many questions correctly as possible in that slot before delivering their answers to the Library drop-off by 3 PM on Sunday. Answer markers will be working during that time, and the Library will post winners to their Facebook page.

However, unlike in years past, the annually awarded trophy is not up for grabs this year. While first, second and third place winners will be acknowledged, Filipkowski says that prizes will be awarded based on other factors. She did not mention what those other factors would be, saying people will find out when they pick up their packages. While they are running on an honour system when it comes to answering questions, Filipkowski is urging people to put down their electronics and spend time with their team answering the questions.

The money raised will go towards the upkeep of the Library. Filipkowski wants the Library to continue delivering services to all ages and keep its programming afloat. She hopes a lot of people will sign up for this new trivia event and that everyone can have a good time.
