Counselling in Madawaska Valley is now just a phone call away.

A number of family health teams across Renfrew County, including the Madawaska Valley Family Health Team, are offering an E-Walk-In Counselling Clinic. The clinic will offer access to mental health and addiction therapy services for anyone wishing to access them. Because the initiative is funded by United Way East Ontario, the sessions are available for free.

Susan Farrar, Executive Director of the Madawaska Valley Family Health Team, says because of the long wait times that families face finding counsellors, the County decided to step in. Currently, the Team is trying to find a full-time social worker for residents, but they hope to fill the position soon so they can better offer the service. By having this service over the phone, Farrar hopes this will help address the gap in mental health services for residents of Madawaska Valley.

The clinic is being offered every Thursday from 11:30 AM until 6 PM. They can be reached at 1-844-441-0981.
