Madawaska Valley to impose level 1 burn ban on May 19th

Madawaska Valley will implement its first burn ban of the season.

The Madawaska Valley Fire Department says because of the increased risk of forest fires a Level 1 burn ban will take effect Wednesday May 19th at 12:01 am. While most forms of burning will be banned, the department says that the standard 2-feet by 2-feet campfire will still be allowed. The ban comes as wildfire ratings around Madawaska Valley range from high to extreme.

The following are not allowed at this time in the Township:

-Burning of brush or brush/leave piles or other yard waste
-Burning of grass
-NO OPEN AIR BURNING
-NO DAYTIME BURNING IS PERMITTED FROM APRIL 1ST TO OCTOBER 31ST
-All fire permits are suspended and none will be issued
