New PTSD Legislation Being Welcomed

Recent provincial legislation to help first responders deal with post traumatic stress disorder is being met with support by local paramedic services.
Acting Chief of Hastings Quinte Paramedic Services John O’Donnell says the legislation will allow first responders to get treatment without having to prove their PTSD was caused by work.
O’Donnell says many first responders witness traumatic incidents, which can be difficult for some.

O’Donnell says this legislation is important as it will make first responders more capable of serving the community.
A program has also been put into motion in Hastings County to provide peer-to-peer counselling to those who witness traumatic events.
