Legion Branch 406 to Raise Banners Honoring Local Veterans

The Barry’s Bay Legion will honour local veterans by showing them to the world.

The Legion will hang banners around town that will feature the faces of veterans alive and passed. Heather Poliquin with the Legion says those who live here or have a family connection to the area will be able to submit. She hopes to get applications from beyond Madawaska Valley from places like Killaloe, Whitney, Palmer Rapids and even as far as Eganville.  Poliquin also thinks this will be good for younger people, who will see the faces of their family, and form a greater connection with them.  She feels seeing these veterans will make it more real for young people and will give them something to be proud of.

Those interested in getting a banner up and running can phone Poliquin at 613-756-9027, or can email her or the Legion. After that, they will send you an application form. Photos will be required, and people must give permission to use those photos. A 5×7 physical or digital photo is preferred.
