COVID Hospitalizations Up in Renfrew County and District, Variants of Concern Still Absent

More people are in Hospital due to COVID-19, according to the Health Unit.

The RCDHU says 3 people are currently hospitalized with 2 in intensive care. There have been a total of 392 cases of COVID-19 in Renfrew County since the Pandemic began. The health unit says none of these cases are from the variants of concern. As of the 15th, none were listed in Madawaska Valley, although that may have since changed after a student at Madawaska Valley District High School tested positive for COVID-19.

The death count has also risen to 4 as a second Resident of Miramichi lodge has died of COVID related causes, according to Renfrew County. Three residents are currently in the COVID care unit, with Home Area 3A remaining in isolation. The County is extending its condolences to the family, as well as residents and staff at the home. They that one of the staff in the lodge has tested positive, but had no close contacts and is isolating at home.

As of Tuesday, the active caseload in the RCDHU sits at 20.
